Where to see them

  • Puerto Pirámides (Península Valdés): is the departure point for the boat excursions. One of the sources describes it as the only point in Argentina authorized for boat-based whale watching.
  • El Doradillo: a protected area a few kilometers from Puerto Madryn, where whales can come within meters of the beach and can be seen from shore.

Until when

The whales stay until December. In late November and early December the groups begin to disperse toward colder waters.
